Visiting Eliot-Hine

We welcome parents and other visitors to Eliot-Hine Middle School during the school day. The safety of our students is of utmost importance. ALL visitors, including parents and parent volunteers, must report to the main office to sign in. Visitors are not allowed in the building without an escort and/or during testing.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to witness the engaging activities taking place in our classrooms. If you choose to visit your child during class time, the following procedures will apply:
  • Classroom visits or observations are limited to 20 minutes. While in the classroom please silence your phone and any other electronic devices. Sit silently in the designated classroom observation areas unless another arrangement has been made with the teacher. Refrain from talking with students and in any way distracting students from their learning.
  • Classroom visits or observations will be permitted as long as their duration and/or frequency does not interfere with the delivery of instruction or disrupt the normal school environment as determined by the principal.
  • Volunteers are always welcome and we encourage you to come and share your talents and expertise with our students. Volunteers and chaperones who work directly with students are required to complete the DCPS clearance process.
Contact the school to learn about upcoming open house dates and opportunities to see Eliot-Hine for yourself.
